There are great caricaturists… and then there are GREAT caricaturists. David O’Keefe not only does traditional illustrated caricatures, he sculpts them! Browse through his portfolio; I’m sure you’ll recognize his work.
Derek Yu has published a great tutorial on how to draw pixel art. Don’t be fooled, pixel art is not a dead art. Anyone who’s ever had to design an icon for the web will tell you otherwise.
Samuel Casal has a very dark, storybook style crossed with some digital themes. Nice illustrations, Sam!
I’m currently reading Kazu Kibuishi’s beautifully illustrated comic Copper, about a boy and his dog. Kazu has also started a step-by-step blog describing her long, thought out process and approach to drawing Copper.
