Microsoft has released their Windows Live Local preview. You can drag the car around the map and see a first-person view of the street. Although the technology is cool, this is a very bizarre takeoff of Google Earth. The user has the option of choosing between a race car, a sports car, and walking. And what’s with the Xbox controller resting on the sports car’s dash?

The Yahoo! Developer Network has just released the Yahoo! User Interface Library, complete with a set of JavaScript utilities and controls for rich web applications, and the Yahoo! Design Pattern Library, which illustrates optimal solutions to common web development problems. These are invaluable resources for web developers, and Yahoo!, who in my opinion has impeccable Web 2.0 design standards, is proving to be a driving force in the web development community.
The Flashforward Finalists are here. It’s going to take me a while to get through all the great Flash sites listed as finalists, but what I’ve seen so far has been fantastic. The winners in each category will be announced on March 1st at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.
You may or may not like the puzzle game Sodoku, but you can’t deny the fact that this online Flash game by LIFE is extremely well executed. I love the friendly look and feel, the subtle little animations, and the nicely designed icons.
