The British Library has provided an online gallery of old hand written books. One of my favorite stories, Alice in Wonderland, has the original writing and illustrations by Lewis Carol. You can also see some of Leonardo DaVinci’s sketches, Jane Austen’s early work, and the first atlas of Europe, among other treasures. The Shockwave interface leaves much to be desired, but you really can’t complain about the convenience of perusing these beautiful books in the comfort of your own home.
